COP: Turning research and learnings into real change at ports

⚓ How does POSEIDON turn research and learning into real change at ports?

In POSEIDON, we do this through Communities of Practice (COPs). These local groups bring together port authorities, industry, researchers and public actors to exchange knowledge and support the uptake of e-methanol as an alternative fuel for shipping.

POSEIDON has set up COPs in Thessaloniki and Valencia, managed by ThPA S.A. – Port of Thessaloniki and Fundación Valenciaport respectively. These COPs help turn project results into practical deployment through:

  • Knowledge exchange and transfer via capacity building workshops and training
  • Co-creation and validation of project results such as detailed assessment of scenarios for roll-out of e-methanol as marine fuel
  • Involvement of local stakeholders through the development of roadmaps for the implementation of e-methanol value chains including a clear distribution of roles
